Drayton Bird… and my two “secret weapons”
Dear Marketing Friend.
Would you like to know two secret weapons you can make bank with for years to come?

Here’s what I do when I’m stuck for an idea.
Instead of asking myself: “What would Drayton do?”…
I just head to my inbox and find out what Drayton wrote. At the time of this writing, there are precisely 4,963 emails either from Drayton… about Drayton… or the odd correspondence between us.
Almost any question I can come up with, Drayton has already answered in messages going back to 2007.
Often, I’ll glean more from a single email of Drayton’s than an entire chapter in a marketing book.
Sans the guff, as Drayton might say.
For starters, here are a few of the great man’s subject lines.
“Little tricks that make big money”
“Before you say ‘To hell with Bird'”
“The second best mailing I’ve ever seen?”
“An 87% bump from two simple ploys”
“How Often Should You Mail?” (I can’t leave you hanging! Drayton’s answer: “Write every time you have something interesting to say.”)
Anyway, I could go on all night, but you get the idea.
If you’ve been on Drayton’s email list for any length of time, you too can plunder the great man’s wisdom in mere seconds.
There’s a word for that… it’s called larceny.
And now for the second secret weapon.
Believe it or not, a 19-cent airmail envelope like this, with the red, white and blue border could be worth a fortune to your business… IF you know how to deploy it.
Interestingly, airmail, as a class of mail, hasn’t even existed in the United States since 1977.
It was replaced by First Class postage which was three cents cheaper. The same is true in most of the rest of the world with domestic postage.
Yet, to this day, the airmail envelope is irresistible to prospects… no matter your market or the products and services you’re selling.
