Stephen Russell was a London acupuncturist for 17 years before trading his title for the loftier “Barefoot Doctor.”
He was practitioner and teacher of Taoism, martial arts and a manifesting system called wu wei. He was a fixture of many self-help packages for years and used the typical positioning of the times.
The Barefoot Doctor passed away in January 2020 of unknown causes. He was not a medical doctor nor did he have a PhD to my knowledge — that never seems to stop many in the promotional realm and the moniker worked for him.
